Messages about "please insert the correct CD" when starting the game are caused because you cannot use your custom DVD as a genuine CD so the game will not start unless you have a genuine Sims 2 CD/DVD in the drive. The method outlined in the previous pages is not designed to get round CD checks made by the game -see page 1.
Messages about being unable to copy files are almost always caused by your having left a "compressed.zip" somewhere on your DVD. The install routines will try to get a file it wants out of "compressed.zip" before looking at the separate files due to the way its been programmed.
The message asking you to insert Sims 2 CD 4 in order to patch the game when you install University is original behaviour - that is, its supposed to do that. Just insert the disk it wants (or put it in the second drive if you have two drives) and it'll be happy.
The buttons on the front menu downloadable from here don't work. They're mainly for show, but you can click on the individual title names to launch the installers. The X bottom left works and closes the window.
You must tell Nero or Roxio or whatever CD burning software you use to burn a dual-layer DVD (DVD-9 format), otherwise you will run out of room. You must also remember to use blank DVDs that are dual-layer and also a DVD Writer unit that is capable of writing onto dual-layer DVDs (many early generation units can't do this).
Please remember that this is just for fun, to make your life easier and isn't an excuse to give DVDs out to your friends, please tell them to buy their own copies if they like Sims 2 on your computer. Notice the singular in this paragraph. Remember that.
