31. MaxoidSam Blog and Producer E-mail

The person carrying the Senior Producer title for Sims 2 PC Expansion Packs is - after Don Laabs, who covered the position for Pets - has changed again. Sam Player (MaxoidSam) has recently announced himself as the new senior producer. Don Laabs is, like Tim LeTourneau, moving on to another, still secret, project within the Sims Division (Maxis) at EA. Sam Player has been working at EA for various other games like the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise and From Russia With Love. MaxoidSam has introduced himself through his blog, in which he tells that in the future official downloads from the official site will be included in expansion packs and stuff packs. Hidden items from Glamour Life Stuff will also be made available as download on the official site in a matter of weeks. Those downloads will be included in future expansion packs too.

In an e-mail sent to various fansites MaxoidSam tells about his tour through Europe, together with Hunter Howe for the PC team and Ben Bell and Charles Normann for the consoles. 32. Pets Avatars on Official Site

Those who have an account on the official site can now show their pets as avatars as well. The avatar system has been updated to feature new content in the style of the Sims 2 Pets. Go to your Account page and then edit your avatar to pick a Sim, cat or dog.

34. MaxoidGrant Blogs about Pet Chance Cards

Every so often a Maxoid blogs about upcoming Sims games. This time MaxoidGrant, who has already made a story with pets, has now revealed a bit about the chance cards in the new expansion pack. Since dogs and cats can have careers too, they'll also get chance cards which can lead to rewards, or something not so very good. In his blog MaxoidGrant gives an example of a chance card about Stella who has to guard a precious jewel in a jewelry store. The scene is set and two choices are given. MaxoidGrant explains that both choices can lead to both a positive and negative outcome, similar to chance cards for Sims. Check the blog entry for the exact details.

35. Glamour Life Outfits and Lots

For those who have Glamour Life installed, some additional downloads from Maxis can already be put in the game. MaxoidMoonBelly has created several lots using the new items from Glamour Life, and she has also made a few recolours of outfits in the stuff pack released last week. The houses require only the base game and Glamour Life, without any other expansion packs. The outfits add some colour to the ones that ship with Glamour Life, and are made as regular daytime clothes. MoonBelly hopes to upload some more downloads on the exchange in the upcoming months - no new meshes, but just new textures on existing ones. 36. MaxoidGrant Pets Story

Over the past couple of days, a producer of the Sims 2 pets on PC, MaxoidGrant, has posted a trilogy about two Sims and a cat - who thinks she's a Sim. 37. Glamour Life MySims Icon

With the news that the MySims icon for Family Fun Stuff has changed also comes the news of the icon that will be used for Glamour Life Stuff, which is to be released later this month. Rigglyby on the official site's BBS has already found the image, which is that of a sculpture. You can see the images for registered (coloured) and unregistered (grey) games below. 38. New Family Fun Stuff MySims Icon

To clear up the official website a bit, Maxis has changed the MySims icon for Family Fun Stuff, shown on everyone's MySims page. The original wheel made it unclear to people with lower-end video cards, as the difference between registered and unregistered was hard to tell. The toybox has now taken its place, after it won over the Mardi Gras mask in a little survey held by Maxis. More information has been posted by MaxoidDrea. 39. Glamour Wallpapers and MySim Themes

It was only recently when Maxis made some new Glamour Life Wallpapers and two MySim Themes based on Family Fun Stuff and Pleasantview. Now there are two more wallpapers and two themes for MySims pages, all in the style of Glamour Life Stuff, the stuff pack that will be released at the end of this month. If you're logged into the official site you can click "Manage" next to your avatar to modify the theme of your MySim Page to either the Diamonds or Gold Glamour Life themes, or of course any older theme. The wallpapers can be found on the wallpapers page, and come in resolutions of 1024x768 and 800x600. Below you can see the thumbnails for both the desktop and MySim decorations.

40. Pets Announcement at July 27?

A couple of days ago we reported how a temporary information page of the Sims 2 Pets at GameSpy had "Hold for July 27th" in the title, hinting towards an announcement date of July 27th, when the PC expansion pack and console/handheld game will be officially announced. Now there's a new hint towards that date. A month ago, at 15 June, Don Laabs, Senior Producer for Maxis, wrote a letter to the community. In that letter he wrote "the official announcement is slated to happen in several weeks." Now Don's blog has a little message saying "'Several' = 6.00." Counting 6 weeks from June 15 is indeed exactly on 27 July, which now is most likely the date when Maxis will officially let us know more about Pets and pawprints. Naturally we'll report about anything happening on and before that day regarding the game, so stay tuned for details.
