The site with probably the largest amount of downloads for The Sims available on the net seems to have gotten in financial problems. From next week onwards, you'll have to pay for some advanced features of the site. All downloads will remain accessible in the free version though, but options like searching or batch downloading won't be included. More detailed information can be found at the
TSR Members Section, at
The Sims Resource.

Good news for Apple's Macintosh computers: Aspyr Media is working on a version of Hot Date for the Mac OS X. Hot Date will be released for that later this year. The other expansion packs and the original game are already available for Mac. I expect that the new expansion pack,
The Sims: Vacation, will also be made available to Mac users a few months after its PC release in late March.

In the first few hours of this year something very sad happened: Lian Price, owner of
Lian Price's Sims, was killed in a car accident. A speeding car driven by drunken youths hit her. She passed away, and so did her baby she was pregnant of, an hour after she arrived in the hospital she was rushed to. She had just taken a break until the baby was born. She was in the process of making her final set of skins available to the online Sims community. The youths have been caught and arrested by the police.

The rumours posted
here earlier are true. The text in the
newsgroup post was a copy of the text at
The ShoppingMatrix which I hadn't noticed before.
Sims+ has also posted the text. The only difference is that it won't be a 4-way snowball fight, but a 2-way snowball fight. You can now read more about The Sims: Vacation right
here.
We can't wait until 27 March when the new expansion pack is due...
2630. Hot Date Patch coming soon

An unreliable patch for Hot Date already was available at the EA FTP server, but EA warns that it is likely to damage your installation of the game. The patch isn't ready yet, but Maxis will release it once it is. The patch has been removed from the FTP server, but if you downloaded it, we, Maxis and EA do not recommend that you install this patch. You'll have to wait until the official release of the patch.
