23. New Patch and Create a World

Today EA released two things for the Sims 3: first of all there's a patch for The Sims 3 and World Adventures. The huge list of issues that are solved is in the patch notes. The patch itself can be downloaded through the Sims 3 launcher. Furthermore Sims 3 fans who are tired of Sunset Valley and Riverview now have the option to create their own brand new neighborhoods with the Create a World tool. The freebie is still in beta but it should allow you to get started at making a new town. The Create a World page has the download.
[Update 17 December] We've received information from EA that the new patch causes many problems, including the game not starting up anymore if the patch fails to install properly. If new information or a new patch appears to solve these issues, we'll let you know. Until then it may be better not to install the new patch.

Eight years and one day ago The Sims Zone launched. At 17 November 2001 (well in the days of the Sims 1) we launched this site. Since then many things have changed, others have remained the same. One thing that definitely has never changed, is our dedication to the Sims series. We've seen the Sims 2 come and go, and now the Sims 3 is there with its first expansion pack released this week. We'll continue to provide you with the latest and greatest around this franchise - from downloads to news and reviews, including a World Adventures review soon. Some other major changes are currently being planned, and should be executed in the next year - we'll keep you posted, of course. I want to thank all team members - current and past - for their dedication to The Sims Zone. And of course all our visitors. Let's add another couple of years (and more) to it, together!

In the twelth and final report of The Sims 3 Indepth series, we finally get around to how we can get an unfair advantage through cheating plus what cheats that we would like to see, just to make the game even better to play.
I will also be giving a critique of what I would like to see finally tuned or added, followed by my conclusions whether my first thoughts about The Sims 3 apply.

In the eleventh and penultimate report of The Sims 3 Indepth series, we are looking at "Weirdness" and among other things will be finding out who this character is.
We will be looking at death, ghosts, how to bring sims back from beyond the grave, and how to eat properly in order to have eternal life. We will also be reporting about some of the other forms of weirdness that are in the game.

30. The Sims 3 - "Create-A-World" Tool - Coming Soon!

For those of us who have been waiting to build their neighborhoods from the ground up, the tool is coming that will allow us to do this. The Create-a-World tool is being released in December.
"Create-a-World is intended for serious Sims enthusiasts willing to devote enough time to build entire neighborhoods from scratch. The tool is actually the same one that the development team uses to create the playfields for The Sims 3 and its expansions. Because it's the same tool that the developers use, it can create areas similar to those that appear in the base game and expansions, in four different size levels. (The Sims 3's default neighborhood of Sunset Valley is the largest of the four world sizes.) ... Create-a-World will be a separate utility that will weigh in at about 130MB and be free to download from the official Sims 3 Web site. The tool is planned for release in a beta state this December in all languages--EA plans to support and improve the utility over time as it receives feedback from the fan community."
