We've got a new poll again, this time about Unleashed: what's your favourite pet you can buy in Unleashed. If you want to let us know, vote on the right or on
this page. As for last week's poll: there are quite many superstars, 22% of the people who voted said their best Superstar had 5 stars. 25% doesn't have Superstar yet. All the other options (0-4.5 stars) received less votes (between 1 and 10%). An amazing 362 people voted in the poll, which is more than usual. For all the results,

1952. More about Spellbound

The Bank of America Security Software Market Oulook 2003 has predicted one more expansion pack before the release of The Sims 2. The expansion would arrive in fall 2003. Although they report it as yet unnamed, Spellbound is most likely the name since that's what Amazon had up for pre-order
late last month (they removed it now). The Bank of America doesn't state this is the very last expansion pack for The Sims 1, and as Will Wright said in an
audio interview with GameSpy, we can still expect an 8th expansion after Spellbound. Will said they might be expanding The Sims 1 after The Sims 2 is out, because there will still be people playing the old game, and not everybody will have the system necessary for The Sims 2. Read a bit more (but not much) at
IGN.
1953. New Superstar review

A new, rather short, review of Superstar has appeared again. Gaming Nexus didn't have a real in-depth look, and unlike others doesn't complain about the bugs in the game. However, there's one original idea in it:
"A change that should be implemented into future Sims expansion packs would be allowing the creator/player to purchase house items and placing them on angles. Symmetry gets extremely boring after awhile. Angles would allow the creator to build much more interesting houses and I think certain Sims would be happier too."
Probably not in an expansion pack, maybe in The Sims 2. Gaming Nexus also gives the game the highest rating so far, 9.0. You can read the review
this page. All the Superstar reviews can be found in our
review index.

1955. More Sims 2 info

A bit more than a week ago, there was some news at the
official site of an issue of Computer Gaming World that had a special The Sims 2 feature in it. Many people are probably unable to get that for various reasons, but it looks like
The Sim's Stash managed to get it. They combined information in the magazine with known details, and posted it all in a preview. For instance, we now know there will be 18 career tracks, with 10 jobs each. Besides that, teens and elders can get a job in one of the 7 career tracks for them, with 3 job levels each. There will also be 500 objects (compared to just 125 in The Sims 1 - without expansion packs of course), including some new ones and the familiar bunch (sofas, tables etc). They also say there will be no area to get out of the house in The Sims 2, but other sources (
click here) say that option is still open. The preview of The Sims' Stash is definately a nice overview of all the features of The Sims 2. You can read it all
right here.
1956. Cheats (Console) & Hints updated

Last night we've been reorganising the extras a bit, making a separate "
Game Help" section. In that section there's the (unfinished)
career index, cheats,
hints and more. Besides adding a few hints, we've also updated the cheats for the consoles versions of The Sims. The codes for the GameCube and X-Box versions are pretty much the same, but we added how to access the cheat menu on those consoles in the text. There's also one new cheat: "FISHY EYES". When you enter that, and change the camera view you'll get a first-person perspective. You can find the console cheats at
this page. If you're looking for a list of cheats for the PC version,

1957. The Neighborhood Handler 4.10 Released

I've just released The Neighborhood Handler 4.10 - but not everybody can get it yet. For this week, only
TNHH group members can get it now (sign up and you'll be able to download it now too!). The major new things are the 2 new functions: Rezoning, which will rezone an (Unleashed) neighborhood home to community area or vice versa without demolishing a building, and the Family Index feature. That one will basically list all the families in all your back-ups and neighborhoods, and show you their details and the details of every single Sim, which makes it very convenient for you to find a specific family or Sim. Besides that there are many bugfixes again, and the installation now also places an icon to the program on your Desktop. It's definately worth downloading, but you'll have to join the group first. More information can be found at the
TNHH Website. If you don't want to join the group, then you'll have to wait one week before you can download this new version from The Sims Zone.
1958. The Add-On Handler - Update coming soon!

Recently I've been working on The Add-On Handler again. I expect a new version to be released in a few weeks' time. Besides adding support for Superstar, it'll also have a new function: FAR Objects. That will put your downloaded objects in one FAR-file, which speeds up the loading time of The Sims (especially if you have many downloaded objects). It can still take up to 2 or 3 weeks before that version's finished though, so I hope you can be that patient. Until then, you can use The Neighborhood Handler 4.10 (not earlier!) to install Studio Town areas. Fashion skins cannot be properly installed by one of my tools yet, but as said The Add-On Handler 0.2b will be able to do that. Currently, you can download version 0.1.2b (without Superstar support) from
this page (Full version), or from
this page (Upgrade version).

"and... Action!" Studio Town has it's first additions with Breckenridge Studios - designed for the practical sim that needs to build funds as well as fame - and Mainstream Music. Mainstream Music has all the music objects plus a coffee shop, rec area and spa.

1960. Superstar Review

Some people like Superstar, others are completely annoyed with all the bugs and the slow scrolling and zooming that come with it (for free). The Gamers Temple also mentions these issues, but still give the game a score of 87%. Here's a little bit from their 2-page review:
"The entertainment career is a welcome addition to The Sims because players now finally have control over their sims at work. The amount of money that you bring home each day is entirely dependent on how well you do while at Studio Town. The dark side to this is that you can just as easily come home with your pockets empty. Starting out as an entertainer is quite challenging; the fame objects to which you'll initially have access won't earn you a lot of money. You'll need to play well just to have enough to cover the basic expenses such as food and your bills."
