1881. SimDay
Written on Thursday 11 September 2003 at 15:54 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
This SimDay comes with a few things we've seen before. First of all, there's the Sims 2 system survey that was posted and hidden again on SimDay 3 July. The survey - completely automated - sends some information about your computer to Maxis anonymously. That way, they can adjust The Sims 2 to make it run on (most) computers The Sims players have. To take the survey, click here. Next there's the official Sims 2 trailer that shows the several generations that we've seen several times before too. You can download it in Mpeg format, 32 Mb, from this page. Next there's the Gamers' Temple Interview about Makin' Magic discussed by Stash earlier this week. That brings us to the final 2 links already. First, there's now an about page of The Sims Double Deluxe, which replaces the old Deluxe one. Just click here to see it. And finally, as Maxis promised last week, part 2 of the Q&A of Makin' Magic. It answers questions posted on the BBS about Makin' Magic. It's all right here. Last week's questions (and answers) are on this page. More SimDay again next week!

1883. Gamers Temple's Interview with Jonathan Knight
Written on Sunday 7 September 2003 at 07:02 by Stash - 0 comments.
GamersTemple.com has posted a new interviewed "Makin' Magic" game designer Jonathan Knight. It tells us a lot about the game, like magic, dragons, magic town, roller coasters, creepy hollow, new characters, objects, and more. The interview is very nice, and must read for anyone interested in the game. The interivew is 4 pages long, and gives us great details of how the new objects and gameplay will work. To read the whole article click here.

GT: One of the new objects for the home is the Dragon Nest. Will players need Unleashed to hatch a pet dragon? How big will the dragon grow and will it set fire to everything?
JK: No, you do not need Unleashed to enjoy the pet dragon. Just buy the Dragon Nest (egg included) at Magic Town, bring it home, and take care of it. Depending on how well you care for the egg, different dragon personalities may emerge from the egg. Some personalities are more, well, fiery than others.

GT: Will Magic Town be a separate location similar to Downtown or Studio Town?
JK: A little bit of both. Like Downtown or Studio Town, it’s a new and fully customizable location. However, Magic Town is unique in two ways. First, you can either take the whole family there, or you can opt to just take a single Sim. And most importantly, Magic Town is the first location with additional residential lots, which can be earned through gameplay. Experienced magic Sims will be able to move into one of three brand new residential lots in the exclusive “Creepy Hollow” section of Magic Town.

1885. SimDay
Written on Thursday 4 September 2003 at 22:04 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
This SimDay comes with several things. So let's start: first of all, there's a Q&A about Makin' Magic (and Double Deluxe), which answers several questions asked on the BBS. It doesn't really reveal anything new, but for those interested here's the link. Talking about the BBS: Maxis has introduced the "Thread of the Day". Every day a topic will be picked by Maxis where their employees will be participating in. It's all at the official site's BBS. They also come with the news that the chat will no longer be on the official site, as the client will be unsupported by the manufacturer. They point to several other chatrooms on fansites, as well as the "Off-topic" board on the BBS. Finally, there are 2 links to articles. One we've already discussed earlier: the Developer's Diary for Bustin' Out. You can find it right here at GameSpot. The other article comes from Time Magazine, and is about The Sims 2. It's mainly about Will Wright "Reinventing The Sims". Nice to read, but it doesn't bring anything new about the game. Click here to read it.

1887. New Sims 2 video
Written on Tuesday 2 September 2003 at 17:28 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Gamers Hell has posted a 12 minute video of The Sims 2 a few days ago. It shows a lot of in-game footage, but unfortunately the quality - both sound and video - isn't too great. The in-game stuff is quite much like what we saw in the Fragland video interview. There's a lot of noise in the background from other games, like James Bond which can quite obviously be recognised at some point in the movie. We again see the hot-tub scene where a sim gets electrocuted by lightning. We also see some more of the create-a-sim and the genetics. The video has a voice-over from a Maxis Producer. Unfortunately, due to all the noise, it's not easy to understand all of it. It comes from the Game Convention held in Germany a while ago. You can download the video (68 Mb) from this page. It requires Windows Media Player 9 (or the WMP 9 Codecs).

1889. Back again
Written on Sunday 31 August 2003 at 00:33 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
I'm back again from my break. Besides going away from home for 3 weeks, I've been working on the site in the background a bit the past month. Besides some help with Sim Brother, I've been working on another new thing that will be coming to the site soon. I've had a nice time off but it's good to be back again.
