The Urbz has been out for a while already, but now we too have our review up. I've played the PlayStation2 version of the game for quite a few hours, and my opinion has been posted. If you want to know whether you should get it for the holidays, or perhaps a little later, then read the review!

Besides
SimDay, there's also an Urbzday this week. It's not much though - just a new comic. This time Jayde visits Diamond Heights, trying to look right for the party. If you want to know if with the help of Darius it all works out, then check out
the comic by
Chynna Clugston.
[Update 5 December, 0:05] The site has had a few more updates. There's a note about the toys based on the game. The action figures based on the GBA version of the game are out. The Miniopolis pack contains 20 2-inch characters and pets, whereas the Console Edition has 10 4-inch articulated characters. See the
Atomic Toys Urbz site for more details. There's also a little note about the
Urbz object for the Sims 2.

After releasing the
patch and
the Urbz as Sims 2 earlier this week, the site has again been updated. This time, it is SimDay again, and it brings two more things. The first thing is a new episode of the Strangerhood. This third episode is titled "
We Have a Floater." It can be downloaded from Strangerhood's
archive page or the official site's
Strangerhood page. As usual it comes in three formats (two on the official site): QuickTime, DivX and Windows Media.
Furthermore, there's a new object made by Maxis for the Sims 2. With this object, a "
Chanukah Menorah," your Jewish sims can celebrate Chanukah with this object. You can download it from
the exchange.

1235. University Images

There are several images about the Sims 2 University. To start off with the screenshots: the scoop newsletter, that started in the time before the Sims 2 was released, was sent out a few days ago. Included were two screenshots of the first expansion pack of the Sims 2. The third screenshot comes from the official
Swedish site. It may look familiar, but it's the same scene as another screenshot, taken from a different angle. Spanish fansite
SimsExpress found some artwork on
GameStop, which can also be seen below. As if that's not enough, there's now also a (preliminary) logo. It's still just a small image, although a bigger version will probably be released by EA in the future. This one comes from the
official UK site. All the images are shown below, click the thumbnails to see larger versions.

You may have already seen it: a new poll was launched last night. This time it's all about the patch of the Sims 2. The options to vote for are on the right. Just pick your choice and hit the vote button, and it'll be counted. You can do the same on the
latest poll page. Last week our poll was about the Sims 2 University, specifically if you like the information that's been released so far. Well over 50% said it'll rock by voting "
Way to go Maxis!" Almost 25% wants to know more first, and about 11.5% told us it sounds nice. Hitting the small numbers, less than 7% will probably not buy it. 2% hated college themselves, and won't like their Sims going there either. Finally, the last 4% didn't know what the poll was about. In total 295 people voted. To see the exact results, check the
results page.

Besides the
patch, Maxis has released a new objects for Sims in the Sims 2. The object is a new video game: the Urbz. When you download it, you can take your Sim to the community area where they can buy the game and play it on their computer or game consoles. It's a fairly big download for an object, 7.66 Mb. If you like to download it, check out the
object info page. This is probably an object for next SimDay, which is still two days away.

It's delayed by a day, but it's available now. The Sims 2 patch is officially available for download from
http://thesims2.ea.com/update/. There are two versions to download, one for the CD version and another for the DVD edition of the game. It weight almost 15 Mb and fixes a lot of things in the game, including floating teddy bears, the "jump bug", and NPCs disabling parts of the user interface. The new version number after the patch is 1.0.0.971 (which can be checked using the
gameVersion cheat). For the complete list of fixes check the
update page now. You need the CDs or the DVD while installing the patch.

After the first
interview, games network
GameSpy has something else new about the Sims 2 University, the Sims 2's first expansion pack. In a sneak peek they reveal details of a few features of the pack. For instance, to make the dorms area seem more crowded, Sims are only shown when they're not in their private dorms. You don't see what's going on behind doors of Sims you don't control. What's also new is that the band objects (see also
Tim's mail) will work together - at least if the skills of the Sims playing the instruments is good enough. There isn't much else in it, though of course you can always check out the
full sneak peek for some more precise details.
Furthermore,
LosSims.com posted a screenshot, after which
SimsExpress posted a larger version of the shot. Click the thumbnail below to see it.
