32. The Sims 3 - Check this out!
Written on Friday 1 August 2008 at 16:05 by Andy - 0 comments.

On the official website for The Sims 3 , a trailer video has been released and there are also some new screenshots in the different sections.

Also, recently, a fan event was held at EA in California and Josh from Worldsims, which is one of our affiliate sites, was able to attend. While he was there, he held a live blogging session, which me, ChEeTaH and Rosana were part of. I took the transcript and tidied it up so click here to read about what looks like it could be a great game.

Written on Wednesday 16 July 2008 at 14:28 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.

It recently came to our attention that due to some misconfiguration of our server, emails sent by the website would sometimes be rejected by various (mail) providers. This issue should now be solved, and e-mails should arrive normally again.

If you tried to register for membership, requested a password or otherwise expected an automated e-mail from this website and you didn't receive it, please try again. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this issue.

34. EA Land (TSO) Shutting Down
Written on Wednesday 30 April 2008 at 00:28 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
After a couple of years, struggling to become popular, the end of The Sims Online is coming near. It was recently relaunched as EA Land, with a new economy and custom content. Driving force behind this was Luc Barthelet, once General Manager of Maxis. At the EA Land Blog Luc has now announced that as of 1 August the game will be taken offline. Subscription billing ends today, meaning 60 days of free gameplay for everybody. Paying members can also get a $15 off for any EA Store game, or three months of free Club POGO subscription time. About 30,000 pieces of custom content were uploaded by players of the game. Besides that the game got new features weekly, including web services resulting in integration with Facebook and more. After almost 6 years, that's all there will be. More information is in the team's special message and the official announcement.

35. Preliminary FreeTime Patch Available
Written on Thursday 24 April 2008 at 11:13 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Although not advertised yet at the official site, there is a patch for FreeTime. This patch was made available some time ago, but has been recalled due to installation problems with it, according to the German site and this BBS thread. That means the patch is being updated and still being worked on. Nevertheless the installation file is still available on EA's FTP server. So while trying it out may cause new problems rather than solving them (and unfortunately it is not known which bugs should be solved by the patch), you can try downloading the 17.4 Mb patch from here. Use at your own risk!

Although the Sims 3 has already been announced, EA has confirmed that there will be an eighth expansion for the Sims 2. Through a teaser on the official site we now know that this possibly last expansion for the Sims 2 will take Sims to apartments:
"Your Sims are moving into a brand-new apartment and their lives will never be the same!

"Fun and drama await as your Sims discover apartment living - from getting along with new neighbors to meddlesome landlords, building their reputation to visiting new social hangouts. Take your Sims out of there serene suburban homes into hustling apartment buildings."

37. Recent Downtime
Written on Wednesday 13 February 2008 at 21:32 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Over the past couple of days The Sims Zone has experienced some downtime. The site is now back and should remain online properly from now on again. The server this site runs on has been hacked due to a security hole in PHP 4. We have now switched to using the newer PHP 5. If you notice anything odd on the site, especially if you notice that something is broken, please do not hesitate to contact us and inform us about the problem. We expect everything will run just fine though. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the downtime, and hope you'll continue to enjoy The Sims Zone as you always did.

Last Tuesday she visited Amsterdam, and The Sims Zone was there to listen to what she had to say about the upcoming expansion pack. Many other fansites have already posted their reports from events held earlier, elsewhere in Europe, and you can find a list with links below (thanks to SnootySims). We also played the game a bit for ourselves, and are ready to give you details of what's coming to you next month. If you want to know more about genies and bottles, hobbies, lifetime aspirations and their benefits, and much more, check out our preview of FreeTime, with exclusive screenshots!

40. FreeTime - Media so Far
Written on Friday 25 January 2008 at 20:10 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Most of you will by now have heard about FreeTime, the seventh expansion pack for the Sims 2. Although we have been a little bit behind on all the news about it, it's time to play catch-up for a bit. Thus we have collected all available screenshots and other things for you to find below (in the "Read more" area).

Other than all those screenshots and artworks, there are two videos: a trailer and a music video of Natasha Bedingfield's "A Pocketful of Sunshine." That track is included in the expansion, of course all in Simlish. Furthermore there are hobby magazines for all of the hobbies, of which at the time of writing 6 have been revealed. The first of seven comic strips has also been published at the official site. Finally, the official UK site has a fansite kit with some material (also shown below) as well. A Prima Guide will be released at the same time as the game.

FreeTime is expected to be released in the week of February 25th (26th in the US, 29th in the UK).
