41. New Nightlife Trailer and Official Screens

The expansion is out, but still EA is releasing some promotion material for the Sims 2 Nightlife. In the form of screenshots and a trailer this time. The trailer is a short clip showing a dinner date, and can be seen on the movies page on the official site. The screens come from EA UK, and appear to be new, contrary to screenshots posted earlier this week, which were actually old (the specific newspost has been edited now). As these screens are official, we don't want to keep them from you even though they can be made by pretty much anyone with the game now. Click the thumbnails to see the large versions.

42. Nightlife Release Info - Expansion 3 Announced in it

Nightlife is very close to its official release date, but in a few countries people are already receiving their copies. Some online shops (e.g. GameStop, reports SP Zone) have started shipping their copies, and besides that the game has already appeared in Brazil and Switzerland. Besides that, the Prima strategy guide has already been delivered to many people, who are revealing information about Nightlife on forums. All this has resulted in a lot of news, of which the biggest topic is probably that the third expansion pack will be all about Business. Read More!

A new survey has appeared on the official site, asking about the future of the Sims 2. It's a follow up of an earlier quiz which already mentioned several ideas for expansion packs. The survey is biased to one idea, namely one about your Sims running their own business. The survey will probably go offline soon, when enough people submitted it, but the information has already been posted in this thread at the TSR forums and this thread and another thread at N99. Last week, ChEeTaH went to see Tim Le Tourneau's presentation of "Nightlife in Amsterdam" and for those of you who haven't read it, I recommend you do it now. This will answer a lot of your questions as even though I may cover some of the same ground, this article is more of an expansion on that previous article.

46. Nightlife Developer Interview

Tim LeTourneau is a lot in the news these days. Last week GameSpot posted an interview - written and on video - with Tim, all about Nightlife. In the written interview, Tim talks about the new features, like the pleasure aspiration, its wants and fears, career tracks such pleasure seekers are interested in, and more. About the career tracks, Tim tells that Pleasure seekers will like job hopping, and are often interested in switching to a new career. There are also several dining options in the new dining system, and besides the Gypsy matchmaker and Mrs. Crumplebottom there will also be a diva. You can read the interview for the details.

In the video interview, Tim talks about the same themes, but in different words. Nightlife is all about Sims having fun. The pleasure aspiration will tie in with the original game and University, and naturally it matches the Nightlife theme as well. Tim also says the dating etc. was still missing from the Sims 2, as it's something people do in everyday life, but wasn't possible with Sims yet. Tim also talks about story telling for a while, which he says is a key element in the game. Maxis has updated the official site with two new bowling screenshots of Nightlife, and a movie. The movie shows a bar where a Sim successfully flirts with another one. It can be found on the videos page. It's not a very long video, but it gives you a little glimpse of what's new in Nightlife. The screenshots, from the screenshots page can be seen by going there or clicking the thumbnails below.

A survey was spotted on the official site, about the future of the Sims 2 on PC. There were several ideas of possible expansion packs, to which you could say which you'd prefer. Besides that there was a question regarding a CD with 60+ objects, for $19.95. Maxis has in the past held other surveys to find out what users want. The survey has had enough entries by now, and a BBS thread with information has been deleted. But we still have it, with thanks to SP Zone and SimsZone:

"TRIP OF A LIFETIME Take your Sims to exotic destinations around the world, or send them on trip to their favorite holiday destination in their very own car. Now the can travel to a tropical beach, mountain getaway, and visit a famous, world-class city."

"RUN YOUR OWN SIMS BUSINESS Now our Sims can run their own home business via the internet selling crafted goods or create their own brick & mortar store downtown. Layout your store to best entice your customers, and craft your goods to meet their demands! Sell paintings, furniture, books, music, clothes, food or even run a nightclub or restaurant!"

The E3 is over, but it resulted in quite a few previews of the Sims 2 and the Sims 2 Nightlife. Maxis has linked to a few of them, but for many more check out our E3 Overview. But there's (little) more than that. First of all, there's a reminder of the movie competition with which you can win $5,000 or a four-week internship at Maxis. It's your last chance to enter, as the deadline is on next Monday, 30 May. Read the contest details for more about it. Finally, something brand new, is a horoscope. 50. E3: TS2 Console Gameplay Movie

IGN has posted a movie for the Sims 2 on PlayStation 2, XBox and GameCube. Nicely mixing it up with Nightlife, a video of the PC expansion pack has been posted on the same page. We've already seen that one yesterday though. This new footage can be downloaded from the videos page, where you can find it under the title "Gameplay 2".
