Official Life Stories Announcement - Preview Soon!
Today Electronic Arts officially announced the Sims Life Stories for PC and laptops. In the press release of the standalone game the stories of Riley Harlow and Vincent Moore are described as being of a romantic flavour. Riley might ditch Beau number one for Beau number two, and possibly even have kids with the second one. Vincent on the other hand is a successful entrepreneur, but a hopeless romantic. The story will be about him finding the love of his life. Of course there's also the open free-play mode. Read on for more details and lots of graphics.

The Stories series of Sims games will work well on laptops too (system requirements follow). Most importantly it's necessary to say that all Stories games (Life Stories next month, Pet Stories this summer, and Castaway Stories in winter 2008) are standalone products. They will not work together with each other, the Sims or the Sims 2, nor with any expansion pack or stuff pack for those games.

A new The Sims Stories Website has been launched for the new product line. For Pet Stories the stories will let you "take on a variety of challenges as you compete for 1st place in a local pet show and learn to tame a variety of pet personalities." Regarding Castaway Stories, which will be out next year, it says you'll need to "explore the island, build a shelter, learn to find food, and make your Sims' lives as fun and comfortable as possible."

The system requirements for Life Stories, and possibly for the other Stories games too, are as follows:
  • OS: Windows XP
  • CPU: 1.4 GHz (1.8 GHz laptop) or faster
  • RAM: 256 MB (512 MB for laptop) or more
  • Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD-ROM drive
  • Hard Drive: 2.7 GB or more free space
  • Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (see below)
  • Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
"Video adapter must have 32 MB of memory or more and one of these chipsets:"
  • ATI Radeon 7500 or better
  • ATI Radeon Mobility 7500, 8500, 9000 series
  • ATI Radeon Mobility M7, x200 or better
  • ATI Radeon Mobility Fire GL/GL v5200
  • NVIDIA GeForce 2 or better
  • NVIDIA GeForce Go 6100 or better
  • NVIDIA Quadro Series
  • Intel Extreme Graphics 82845, 82865, 915, 945 series
  • Intel Extreme Graphics 950 or greater
Besides the new website (there's one for every country, including the UK of course), there are of course also many graphics to show. We have 22 screenshots, of which a couple are fansite exclusive, 2 artworks, logos for the three Stories titles, and pack shots (US and UK) for Life Stories. The pack shots also show the ratings of T for Teen in the US (ESRB), or 12+ in Europe (PEGI).

A while ago The Sims Zone already checked out Life Stories at EA's headquarters. A preview with exclusive detailed information and screenshots is in the make and will be up on this site soon. For now enjoy the graphics.

Life Stories will be out in Europe on 2 February, in the US you can buy it from 6 February onwards. You can already pre-order it now.
