Pets at EA Store
Maxis is still holding the announcement of Pets back to probably July 27th, but the EA Store has already put the game in their product listing. There are 5 versions of the game available for pre-order, namely PC, PS2, GameCube, DS, GBA. The prices are $29.95 for PC, DS and GBA, and $39.95 for PS2 and GameCube. Several brief decriptions are included with the listings. On PC, pets will include dogs, cats, birds and more, but Create-A-Pet only exists for dogs and cats. Training is available, and pets will also be able to get a job in Show Business, Security or Service. On the consoles there will be 22 dog and 15 cat breeds, as well as guinea pigs. At Town Park you can find other Sims with pets and buy items for pets. The console game also seems to be the classic freeplay - whether there's a storymode is not said. Finally, you can also share pets through a code to hand to your friends. On the DS version, you have to run a pet clinic, and by treating pets you unlock newi tems. On the GBA you have to take a career in Pet Care and go through different jobs. Read more for the precise descriptions.

PC:
  • Sims Have Pets! - Your Sims can share a lifetime with their pets. Sims can adopt dogs, cats, birds, and more.
  • Create-A-Pet - Choose from dozens of dog and cat breeds, or customize features for a unique pet and then pick their personalities.
  • Pets Have Genetics - Cross different breeds to create designer pets or make new ones and register them to appear in Create-A-Pet as a unique pedigree.
  • Sit, Spike, Sit - Your Sims can encourage and discipline pets, training them to shake, play dead, and more. Unruly pets might dig in the yard, claw the sofa, topple the trash, or surprise their Sims in other ways, but Sims can change their pets' ways with the right training!
  • Pets Have Careers - Now your Sims aren't the only ones bringing home the bacon! Skilled pets can earn a living from three career tracks - Show Business, Security, and Service - and work their way up through five job levels.
  • Friends for a Lifetime - Your Sims' pets are members of the family and share all of life's great moments - whether it's kids training puppies, teens playing fetch in the park, adults watching TV with their cats, or elders enjoying a sunny day in park with their long-time companion!
  • Show off Your Pets - Share your favorite Sim pets with other The Sims™ 2 Pets players through the exchange.
PS2, GameCube:
  • Your Sims Have Pets! - Adopt dogs, cats, and guinea pigs for your Sims to play with. Your Sims can train their dogs and cats to learn new tricks. They even have their own personality: smart, friendly, silly, or hyper!
  • Create-A-Pet - Choose from more than 22 dog and 15 cat breeds including Retrievers, Beagles, Pugs, Schnoodles, Maine Coons, Siamese, and more. You can even create your own by customizing their appearance with a variety of traits including body shape, color, fur, nose, and ears.
  • New Town Park - Your Sims can take their pets to the central town park where they can play with their furry friends and meet other Sims and their pets. Buy fun items for your Sims' pets at local shops and watch the town center grow over time.
  • Classic Sims Gameplay - Create Sims that look like you and your friends and control how they spend their lives - their stories are in your hands!
  • Share Your Sims' Pets - Create and unlock new Pets, then show off your cool creations with a code that you give to your friends.
DS:
  • Run a Pet Clinic - Care for, heal, groom, and train pets in a clinic that you build and customize.
  • Unlock Rewards - As your Sim gets better at caring for pets, they can unlock special items. Make sure your Sim treats their patients well!
GBA:
  • Give Your Sim a Career in Pet Care - Take on different pet-related jobs including pet walker, veterinarian, pet trainer, and more. Collect special items as your pet care career progresses. Increase your Sim's pet care skills to gain a following and collect new pets.
  • Explore New Locations - Take your pets to the park, downtown, or the pet store, or bring them home where you can customize and upgrade your Sim's house.
