Many people use The Sims 2 to tell stories. This can be done through photo albums, but also with movies. The annual DC Independent Film Festival has received 1,200 submissions for films to be featured. The festival showed a total of 110 movies, of which 3 were made by fans of the Sims 2, with the game. April Hoffman ("The Awakening Episode 1"), André Lopion ("My and Myself") and Michelle Pettit-Mee and Kheri Batal ("A Different Song") were awarded by EA Games, which gave each of them the Open for Business expansion pack. Five other directors with movies selected for the festival were given The Sims 2 as well, "to encourage them create their next movie in the Sims world."
