One of the Sims games not mentioned as much as others this E3, is the Sims 2 for mobile phones. This game will come in three versions, a low-end 64Kb version which will work on 60 handsets, the 128Kb one for 40-50 sets, and the high-end 178Kb edition will work on an additional 15-20 sets. This information is from GameSpot, which has posted a hands-on from the E3...
Ideaworks3D is developing the game for EA. They previously powered the N-Gage Arena with their technology. Connectivity with the net will be one of the main features in the higher-end versions of the game. The game manages to catch the PC experience quite well, with a isometric view, needs skills, wants, star chart, relationships and inventory. It takes only a couple of buttons to cycle through these menus. As with the other console and handheld versions, you will be able to directly control the movements of your Sims on the phone as well as using a cursor. GameSpot preferred direct control. The controls are something to get used to though. As reported before, you can use Sims created on the PC version of the Sims 2, and import them to your phone. But on an online server, NPCs will be created and downloaded by your phone, allowing 75,000 different NPCs in total.
Interesting socials, like making out or fighting, will create three frames on the server which are then sent to the phone. You can also view these pictures online. Trading will also be possible over the net in the high-end version. You have to mutually agree to the trade within 60 seconds, using a sort of rock-paper-scissors game.
The base goal of the game is to make as many Sims as possible like yours. Making friends will improve your SimQ score. The player with the highest SimQ score in a neighborhood will gain "sovereignty over the community lot." Five tile sets in the game to change the look of your hood. You can unlock them over the air, for a nominal fee.
The game will be released around 30 November. For exact details, read the preview.
