There have been a lot of discussions in several forums, newsgroups and chats about pay-sites. A quite common opinion is: 'Pay-sites are stupid'. But does everybody really know why sites become a pay-site? A quick answer is that they don't do it to make money. In fact, it is not an easy decision for a webmaster to make. I have explained reasons for becoming a pay-site (or even closing the site down) in a new editorial here at The Sims Zone: "Pay-sites & closing sites - how come?".
"Traffic costs money and more traffic there is, the more money it costs. That is when a site gets in trouble. They'll have to set up something to pay the bills. Not only the traffic costs money though, but if you take in account that some extra costs for the hosting of the site itself have to be paid too, the costs can get very high. Some costs can be covered with the income from banner advertising, but that can only pay so much. It doesn't often pay all the running costs. Banner Ads don't make as much money as they used to do and advertisers have been holding their ads back because they get enough money from it themselves."To read the whole article about why sites become pay-sites or close down, click here. Comments about it can be made in this news post.
