I've got windows vista and have installed sims superstar but it keeps freezing. I keep uninstalling it and reinstalling it but it does nothing. Also tried to change the compatability so the program runs on an older version of windows and still no luck.
I'm not sure about superstar specifically, but I had the same problem on Vista when I installed the Complete Collection. I finally got it to work by running it as an administrator, changing the compatibility, and diabling the visual effects. Right click on the properties on the Sims launch or shortcut, then properties. On the compatibility tab, check run compatible with and in the drop down, select XP. Below that, there is a checkbox that says to run this program as an administrator. Check that box. Also, disable the visual effects - but just the ones for this game. I tried doing the compatibility thing and disabling visual effects without running as administrator, and it still froze. I'm not sure what combo really makes it run, but running as admin seemed to fix it.
Also, I'm not sure about whether it needs to be on a fresh install. I installed it, but before launching the game, I changed these features. If you change these features after its frozen and it doesn't work, you might want to try installing it then changing these features before you launch it for the first time.
I hope this works for you. I'm really not a PC person, I just want my game to work.
