Are there diagonal items; perhaps 8 directions instead of 4? I ask this because in a screenshot i saw a diagonal dollhouse...

Not objects but doors and windows can go diadonally. And maybe SOME objects but not that many, mostly the windows and doors.

maybe only 1 square items can go on diagonals

I used the diagonal foundation and was able to put in a door and two windows on the walls that followed the diagonal foundation. Later, when I tried to add more walls and doors, I couldnt. Weird. I spent hours trying to make it work again. Even trying the dropper tool, but nothing worked.

the dollhouse is diagonal in its square, so thats always the case.
