You will need either The Sims 1, The Sims Deluxe or The Sims Double Deluxe. You don't need any other expansion packs when installing one.

In order to install the expansion packs you must have The Sims (original) installed already. If you have it already, just put the disc of whatever expansion pack you're installing in your pc and install it as you would any other software, as it will automaticly detect The Sims original and any other expansion packs you have installed.

Also remember that The Sims Deluxe and Double Deluxe have the original included.

The Sims Deluxe also includes Livin Large (so you don't need to buy it separately) and I believe Double Deluxe also includes House Party as well so you won't need that either.

But any of those three versions (the original, Deluxe or Double Deluxe) is valid for any expansion pack.
