My Sim can't call some of the neighbors (NOT TOWNIES) even after they have met downtown, Why? What can I do to get them on my call list?

Have you checked to make sure that the neighbors you want to call have telephones phones on their lot? If they do, you should be able to call them. They also have to live in the same neighborhood as your Sim.

REPLY TO ANSWER GIVEN BY DAVE: Thank you for your reply. The Sims (not on calling list) do have phones and are in the same neighborhood. MY Sim is on their calling list but they are not on mine. I do have lots of other neighbors and townies that come up when I use my phone. I even tried deleting my old phones adding new ones, going downtown and remeeting them- but still the Sims I'd like to invite over are not on my list. The other Sims are new to the neighborhood. Any suggestions? Anyone?

Sorry if I was asking the obvious in my previous response....
Are you running Makin' Magic? If so, it could be a glitch in the game. I have tried to call neighbors and the game responded with the message "[So-and-so] is already on your lot, why don't you go outside and speak to them". No one was on the lot and, eventually, I received a message that the neighbor in question had died. This may be a question for the Maxis folks unless someone else can help out....

RESPONSE TO DAVE: Hi Dave, Thanks for your response. I don't have makin' magic. Maybe I will have to ask the Maxi people. Thanks anyway:)

reply to dave: that happened to me before. its because the sim was stuck on your lot, not physically, but just wouldnt get off due to a glitch. you should use move_objects on and delete them. then they'll be good as new in their own home.

That is a portal problem, it crops up a lot in the original game when portals just disappear for no good reason. Subsequent expansion packs added a "repair" routine (for want of a better phrase) to minimise this behaviour, I've never seen it happen with subsequent EPs, just in the original game.
