I have the same problem, and i would like some help too. I tried to install it on my b'f's comp... and well he has xp, so it didn't work. And i went to the site and also tried to do what it said... it's either i really suck at DOS or I'm just not doing it right. So, if anyone would like to help me it would GREATLY appreciated. Go to your WINDOWS folder then repair folder...copy the autoexec.nt and config.nt files then past those in your system32 folder.. good luck!

The problem is XP doesn't have the autoexec.nt file that is required to install the Sims. Go to:
http://www.visualtour.com/downloads/
and download the "XP_Fix.EXE" file to your desktop or a folder. Then run the file and you can install the Sims.

I just did this myself after spending an hour finding the answer. It does work, but I can't vouch for the expansions. I'm currently having trouble playing Living Large and am back here searching for answers.
