In Makin' Magic there's a charm where you can clone your Sim to go to work for you, but I don't know if that's what you mean. If you want to clone your sim and you have makin' magic, make sure to clone a sim who works. When I cloned an unemployed sim the clone did nothing but walk around with a watering can pouring water on the ground.

In Livin' Large (I think) there is a chemistry set, if you make a dark green potion, it makes a clone.They don't stick around for too long though.
