I installed the patch and now my sim won't use his phone. The command just won't stay in the queue. It either disappears the second he gets near the phone. I desperately need to organise a birthday party please help.

have you downloaded and added any homes or anything?
Possibly you may have added a hack that you are not aware of try the hack Scanner program at
http://djssims.deepmyth.com/index.php

It will let you remove any hacks that may be accidentally there

Also make sure that the Sim can get to the phone no plants of anything in or near it nothing blocking the path
