Maxis hasn't revealed much info about specific objects. It's best to wait for info from Maxis - or of course the game itself - to see whether they do or not.

Of course eventually everything can be made using custom content.

you can download laptops for the sims 1 online at aroundthesims.com, so in the sims 2 yes
