I tried to reinstall Sims 1, but I got an error: " _INS5176_MP.exe application error"

You will find that when you de-installed Sims,it left some part of the registry still in there.You have to find it(best with a regcleaner),delete it and then you can re-install Sims again.

SimEraser is on the CD, or downloadable from somewhere. Much better than using a regcleaner.
