Are all houses in the same time zone or can it be night in one lot and day in the one next door?

When you are at one house the other houses will remain the same as they were.

Each house is built on its own lot, just like in Sims 1. The only difference is that you create the lots, instead of having pre-set ones. But just like in Sims 1, time will only move for a lot when you are on that lot. So that means that if it is day on lot 1 and lot 2, and then you play with lot 2 until it is night, when you go on lot 1 again, it will still be day. This also means that if you only play with family 1, your family will age but their neighbors won't.
