I was looking at the requirements for sims 2 and it says you need a T&L capable video card with at least 32 MB of video RAM but what is a video card?

Video card or Graphics card are two names for the same thing. If you have a GeForce 2 or later (GeForce FX is later), or a Radeon 7000 or later the game should run.

If you're not sure, press start and click Run. Type dxdiag and then click Run. On the Display tab you should be able to see the brand and make of your graphics card.
