A Very Busy Day
From Campground to Resort

Don't ask me what it was but 8am the next morning, Dad said "We're outta here!", had checked us out of Axewood, called the shuttle and we were on our way somewhere else. Neither Mom or I argued. Dad knew best and he was strangely quiet on the journey.

The Blau Hills Resort was a massive improvement over the camping grounds although it looked like Dad was going to faint when he found out what two suites cost. I guess they'll think twice about forcing me to come along next time. It was a hotel made up of many different chalets and lounges. It also had a pool, hot tub and a sauna.

Anyway, Mom immediately sank herself into a bubble bath while I found the recreation lounge, turned the widescreen TV to the Simdance channel and had my fix. However, Dad joined me and recommended we all take a bracing walk before lunch. After all the Lumber Mill Range wasn't far away.

Log Rolling & Axe Throwing

The Lumber Mill Range was fun. I was able to roll on a log for a bit before falling in. In the meantime, Mom tried some axe throwing. She actually seemed to be quite good at it. Way to go, Mom!

What lives in The Hidden Burrow?

I then decided to take the initiative and took us off to the Hidden Burrow. My curiousity was getting the better of me and I wanted to find what was here.

I was scared of the idea of seeing Bigfoot but that was who came out of the woods. Heart racing, I had to overcome this fear so I joined him fishing. I felt I had to complete some challenge. No idea what it was, though.

We had fun fishing, though, and through the growling noises it sounded as though his name was Armando. Weird name, but I suppose it's more imaginative than "Harry". He played a mean game of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" and I was sad when we had to go back to the hotel.

Mom had another long soaking bath, I ordered in room service as I was starving and Dad steamed himself in the sauna. Mom joined him after her bath. I think here that she was making a comment about sweating more than part of an oriental sportsman's attire.

This vacation is starting to grow on me. I think we are all getting different things out of it too. Log rolling was cool. Meeting Bigfoot, though, was something out of this world. Really weird. I did overhear the folks talking on the way back from his burrow. We might be going home early. That's so not fair! Mom just wants to catch a souvenir shop before she goes. Signing out.

The Suite Life

Whether it is a campsite or hotel, you can only save your game on that lot if you are checked in on it.

Booking into a hotel is quite simple. You click on the room door that you require - "doors" if there are a few of you - and then check in with the bellhop at the reception desk.

You can add another suite to your booking or take them off, depending upon how the tour goes. Marc has had to book two suites, hence why it costs close to ยง1,000/night.

There are different options for the door as to who you can include or exclude, including room service or members of your party.

If you have a telephone in your bedroom, you can call room service. Realism went out of the window here. Platters of food materialise under the reception desk. I can only assume that the bellhop has got his hands on a replicator from the starship "Enterprise". Nevertheless, the service is efficient and the price of the room service is added to the bill.

In order to avoid being charged, you need to have checked out by 2pm the following day.
Bon Voyage & Seasons

For those who already have Seasons, Bon Voyage complements it very well indeed. Weather effects really add to the ambience of the whole thing and I am sure that a vacation at Three Lakes would feel quite different in the winter.

However, this might be problematic as almost everyone wishes to have a water balloon fight. Whether it is a bug or intentional, it does slow the game down quite considerably.

Photography

This is a revision of an idea that was included in University. Although you cannot choose the type of photograph, you can take photographs of whatever you wish or even ask someone to take a photograph of you. A green square appears from where you press "C" to take the picture.

Prints can be ordered from your computer to go on your desk or wall and if you have a lot of them, you can even order a photo album to store them in. More about albums and prints when they get home.

"Time flies when you're having fun"

This expansion is really shaping out into offering a lot of new experiences for your sims. I am suitably impressed with it. In the next part, however, the Millers finish their vacation and are going home. We'll be seeing how life shapes out and what the benefits are of going home.
