The Hot Summer Night information flood keeps going, this time with some more about Nightlife. GameSpot brings a video interview with Tim LeTourneau, including a lot of in-game footage, as well as a preview. IGN has a text preview as well. All the details are inside.
Besides the video interview giving a lot of gameplay footage, showing a dance floor, bowling alleys, carpets, cars, vampires, the karaoke machine, restaurants, the photo booth, and a lot more, there's also a bit of new information. Downtownies, the new characters who live downtown, will visit Sims at home asking your Sims to go downtown with them. This has come from a lot of polishing work. Also the dating reward is given a little more attention. If for example you date someone in the same profession as your Sim, then your Sim might get a call the next day from the date, saying he or she has been able to pull some strings and get you a promotion. You might also earn some skills through these dates. All that's left now is tuning and polishing, after which the game will be released this fall. See or download the video from the Nightlife media page. The previews bring a few new things, but also mention quite a few things we already knew. In GameSpot's preview, Outings are mentioned first. This is going downtown with a group of friends. You'll need to succeed in a limited time, and you'll be able to make friends more easily. If the outing gets miserable, then your Sims might become alienated from these Sims. These outings can also turn into individual dates, by scoping the room and finding a date. While on a date, you'll be able to see the wants and fears of your partner too, which might include hugging, kissing or drinking blood. A date can be broken up by a bowling partner or so if you're unlucky. New are also the rivals, which may follow each other to ruin dates. They are obviously the opposite of friends.
IGN mentions similar topics, but they also include the dance floor. That has a lot of details to it and many options can be set. Also the new pleasure aspiration is briefly discussed. It will be similar to the Romance one, excpet that it's a little bit more about fun - making photos, playing cards, getting in the Electro Dance Sphere, doing the Smustle, and more. Vampires are mentioned by both sites, though a little more in-depth by IGN. They sleep in their coffins, but other Sims can then peek or dare someone to peek at the vampire. Vampires can also "stalk," but very precise details of that interaction aren't given.
Read the GameSpot preview and the IGN preview for details.
